The Back Story of
how two ducks became our pets.
We did not start out with two ducklings. Our first duckling, Jack Jack, was a parting gift from my co-workers. We talked throughout our work day and they learned I have always wanted to have a pet duck. My co-workers found a local feed store that was selling ducklings and they surprised me with my Jack Jack. As months passed I had to go back to work. Leaving our grown duck home by herself. Brian and I could see Jack Jack was getting depressed and lonely while we were away at work. I decided to get her a duck companion. I was hoping for another female because we did not want more ducks. But it was no guarantee our new duckling would be a female because when I arrived at the feed store, the shop placed all their ducklings in one giant box. As it turned out, I picked a boy, our Rocket. Our two ducks are four months apart.
Did my family know what I was getting us into by owning a duck?
No. We did not know how to take care of or know what to expect in owning a duck. I spent hours, days, even weeks surfing the internet OBSESSING, going CRAZY, feeling CONFUSED, and OVERWHELMED over other people's MIXED opinions on how to care for a duckling and a grown duck.
MOST of the advice & information I read on the Internet was not useful. Or the information I read did not apply to our ducks. Some websites charged a fee for answers. And others that offered advice never answered me back. Most forums were & are centered around chickens. And I am a firm believer that ducks and chickens are two different animals. So these were not places for me to find the correct information about ducks or how to care for them.
Are any of my experiences sounding similar to your experiences? Have you been or are you now lost in a world of maybe and try this? I completely understand!

I strongly advise against it! I know by experience.
Here it is, the Best Advice. FIND a veternarian that knows and works with Avians! Below are Jack Jack and Rocket's Doctors.
